People seek therapy for many reasons. Some feel overwhelmed, some feel numb, and others are caught in patterns they cannot shift on their own. My aim is to offer a steady, grounded place where you can explore what is going on in your body and emotions with support that feels safe.
Somatic psychotherapy looks at how your body responds to stress, emotion and memory. It recognises that your history can show up as tension, restlessness or collapse, even when your mind believes it should be fine. We slow things down, notice sensations and track how your system moves between activation and settling. Over time, this can help you feel more regulated and more connected to yourself.
Somatic Experiencing is a gentle trauma approach developed by Dr Peter Levine and is highly recommended by Dr Gabor Mate in his work. It focuses on supporting the body’s natural ability to complete and release old survival responses. You do not need to revisit difficult events for this to work. We follow what your body is doing now, in small manageable steps.
Some experiences are hard to put into words. Art therapy gives shape to what you feel through colour, texture or form. You do not need any artistic skill for this. It is simply another way of accessing what sits beneath the surface.
Alongside body based work, I offer space for reflection, conversation and emotional processing.
These approaches can help if you are dealing with developmental trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, dissociation, relationship difficulties or a sense of being disconnected from yourself.
Sessions are unhurried and guided by what feels manageable for you. We start where you are and move carefully.
